Essa Mashni

My art work is made of resin and Pine cones that I harvest in the spring to early summer within days of falling off the trees; I store them in a cool dry place to allow them to dry slowly to retain maximum color. Once dry, I place them into my resin to look random, with them cut at different angles to show off the different grains of the pine cones. I plane the excess pine cones down to make them flush with resin, and sand the boards starting at 40 grit sandpaper to 320 grit, sanding at higher grits gives the product too much shine, I like them to have a matte finish, finally I polish them with oldies oil.
